NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Hornets, off to a 2-24 start, traded shoot
ing guard David Wesley to the Houston Rockets for Jim Jackson and Bostja
n Nachbar on Monday.

Wesley played for the Hornets since the 1997-98 season, compiling averag
es of 14.7 points and 4.6 assists. He is the franchise"s career leader i
n games started and ranks in the top three in 12 other categories.

Wesley averaged 13.9 points and 4.2 assists in 26 games with the Hornets
this season.

"Jim and Bostjan are going to fit well into our system and should be abl
e to help us with their offensive skills," Hornets general manager Allan
Bristow said in a statement.

"We"re optimistic that the addition of these two players and the return
of some of our injured players will give us a great boost on the court."

Jackson, a 13-year veteran who plays both shooting guard and small forwa
rd, holds career averages of 15.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists.
The 6-foot-6 journeyman has spent time with Dallas, New Jersey, Philadel
phia, Golden State, Portland, Atlanta, Cleveland, Miami and Sacramento i
n addition to Houston, where he signed as a free agent before last seaso
n.

Nachbar was selected by the Rockets with the 15th overall pick in the 20
02 NBA draft. The 6-9 Slovenian forward averaged 2.8 points and 1.4 rebo
unds in his first two seasons with Houston and averaged 3.1 points and 1
.9 rebounds in 16 games with the Rockets this season.

To make room on the roster for Jackson and Nachbar, the Hornets waived i
njured guard Alex Garcia and forward Lonny Baxter.

The word is JJ will not report and is threatening retirement over this. He"s furious right now (My boy said REALLY mad in like he"s seriously reeeeal mad!!) Take that for what it is, I guess.

Also, Sura is most likely going on IR soon as he"s injured again...
